Constructed by hand from steel and network cable, the infrastructure through which contemporary information travels, The Thinker arrives at a moment of heightened tension around the relationship between humans and technology. The fourth life-size figure in McMahon's ongoing network-cable series, it is the first male figure in the body of work. The figure simply sits and thinks.
